Articulation Spin Scripted Social
Definition
Scripted social speech in autism without intellectual disability — fluent rehearsed phrasing substituting for live, in-the-moment formulation of one's own thought. The expressive V-row runs on retrieved scripts while spontaneous-formulation content is the part that is effortful. Distinct from Formulaic Talk (tatemae) where a culturally-shared politeness register masks inner content; here the scripting is an individual developmental accommodation, not a social code.
