Attunement Collapse Dim Signal

Definition

Felt emotion drops below range while Focus independently drops below the range needed to distinguish it, so little affect arrives and what does arrive cannot be sorted. Across trait alexithymia, where the chain from bodily sensation to named emotion has never reliably completed and interoceptive accuracy is measurably low; depressive flattening, where range and differentiation compress with the mood state and recover as the episode resolves; and peritraumatic anesthesia, where affect is clamped to a protective minimum in the immediate aftermath of overwhelming threat — the grid reads the same flat, unsorted Emotional field. What differs is only whether the thinning is developmental and lifelong, bound to a mood state, or an acute protective shutdown that releases once safety is genuinely re-established, and that difference decides whether the work rebuilds the interoceptive base, restores behavioral-affective coupling, or waits at a tolerable pace for the clamp to let go. Distinct from Affect Lockout, where the reflective stance itself collapses upstream of the affect rather than the affect thinning beneath a stance that still works.
