Belonging Fixation Codependent Overholding

cascade-variant.belonging-fixation-codependent-overholdingclinical register

Definition

Codependent over-holding: the holding capacity grips a bond until care becomes compulsory over-functioning, the other's needs repeatedly displacing one's own. The grip runs on a gradient — at the lighter end self-other distinction stays available and the cost is rigidity and depletion; at the far end the boundary itself thins, so the other's feelings are felt as one's own and their needs become the only ones in view. It differs from rigid group holding by its dyadic target, and from abandonment clinging by compulsory caretaking and lost differentiation rather than fear-driven protest and pursuit.
