cascade-variant
Embrace Collapse Yearning Shutdown
Definition
A possible prolonged-grief presentation with persistent yearning plus marked emotional numbing and reduced ability to hold what feeling remains. Yearning specificity can help distinguish this grief-centered form from a primarily depressive presentation, but grief and depression can coexist, and intact pre-loss attachment functioning is not guaranteed. The B-/E- geometry is an additional case-level requirement rather than a diagnostic criterion of prolonged grief itself.
