Definition

This variant is limited to developmental identity diffusion with excessive or rapidly competing self-related content and under-active holding. Chronic emptiness, open exploration, or low commitment alone are insufficient, and no claim is made that identity is absent. It differs from the other conditional forms through developmental exploration and commitment context rather than by declaring those forms more pathological.
