Sensitivity Flood Sensory Overflow
Definition
ASD or sensory-processing-difference phenotype where exteroceptive (auditory/visual/tactile/proprioceptive) sensory hyper-responsivity drives flood through perceptual channels rather than interoceptive ones. The Sensory Profile framework and sensory-processing-difference model frame this as the sensory-processing-difference core; the autism perceptual-hypersensitivity literature extends it to ASD presentations. Distinct from the saturation-side reading of the same profile (Sensory Overload), where reception holds at setpoint against a genuinely high load; here the receiving itself runs wide and input arrives before any sorting.
