Sensitivity Saturation Sensory Overload

cascade-variant.sensitivity-saturation-sensory-overloadclinical register

Definition

Exteroceptive sensory-processing overload in autistic and SPD profiles: genuinely high environmental sensory load — sound, light, texture — received accurately by an intact system, saturating OP reception until it spills into emotional overwhelm. Distinct from all four siblings, which are interoceptive or autonomic: here the overload is external sensory inflow, not internal body-signal, with no autonomic markers and no cognitive-catastrophizing lead. Distinct from the flood-side reading of the same profile (Sensory Overflow) by intact filtering — here reception stays at setpoint and only the environmental load is excessive, where there reception itself runs wide.
