Definition

Focus and Mental are both under-active at Acuity. Attention is hard to engage while usable thought is thin, so each offers the other little purchase — little arrives to be tracked, and little tracking is available for what does. Both sides read as low rather than absent: this is an off-center state, not an emptied capacity. Any wider reach is a condition that is present rather than a guaranteed spread — in some presentations the other ways of working with thought thin alongside it, in others the disengagement extends to where attention has to reach for the body or for other people. The presentations differ in kind — attention-regulation shutdown, depressive blankness, negative-symptom slowing, dissociative absence, blanking under acute pressure, and a trauma-shaped fog among them — and recovery order follows which one is present rather than the under/under origin itself.
