Affectivity Fixation
Definition
Emotional holds at its ordinary range while Open is over-active at Affectivity: feeling arrives at an ordinary volume and is pulled in harder than it asks for. The volume of feeling is not the problem — the taking-in of it is. It reads most often as another person's emotion taken in as one's own across a boundary that has gone porous, which is what separates it from gripping feeling that is already inside, or from attending to feeling too closely: here reception pulls the outside in. Where the over-receiving reaches further it follows reception's own reach — into bodily signal, into being known by others, into the unfamiliar — and attending can tighten around the feeling alongside it. Those are conditions that can be present rather than a spread the origin requires, and neither trigger history nor an order in which the pull eases is fixed by it. Owning what is felt as one's own, and clear thinking about it, are what tend to give relief.
