Definition

A trap where an anxious bond grips the other for continual reassurance — attachment fastens to the other's steadying reflection rather than to the other as a separate person, and when that reflection wavers the grip tightens rather than easing. The relationship is leaned on to hold a self that can't yet hold itself.
