Gripping
Definition
Gripping carries Focus from Directing toward Fixating when attention loses the ability to widen, shift, soften, or release from its target. The foreground remains active but becomes compulsory as the allocation loses its flexibility. Gripping is not concentration, importance, duration, precision, or intensity by itself. Even total absorption can remain Centered where disengagement and re-engagement remain available; the departure begins with lost attentional optionality.
