Definition

Regulating carries Emotional from Overwhelmed toward Felt as affect that had taken over the field regains sufficient differentiation, context-responsiveness, and response freedom to coexist with other experience and action. The affect remains genuinely present; the change is restored affective governability, not forced calm or lower intensity. Regulating is not suppression, minimization, forced calm, Bond Emotional, or Move Emotional. It does not by itself make a feeling owned or expressed. Intense fear in immediate danger and acute grief can organize the whole field without automatically being Over. Changes in bodily arousal, threshold admission, attention, or behavior do not establish Regulating unless affect itself makes this transition.
